In-person consultations
Clare Greenwood became an Image Consultant, long before the term was widely known, even as her family teased her for her wacky clothes and bold fashion choices. For over forty years she has helped people recognise their inherent beauty, connect with colour and feel confident in their own skin.

Her instinct for colour appeared early, rejecting a powder‑blue dress at four and embracing bright yellow, orange and turquoise when allowed! Growing up with six siblings, she constantly experimented with fabric, getting into trouble for crocheting skull caps in class and creating colourful outfits for her family and dolls.

In the early eighties she discovered Colour Me Beautiful, through an American consultant and immediately recognised its value. Seeing how hand‑me‑downs suited some siblings but not others, she realised how colour, texture and pattern shape our choices, an insight that became the foundation of her lifelong work helping people look and feel their best.

Clare has since shared her joy of colour with college students, business professionals, TV presenters, men and women of all ages, even well into their nineties.

Moving from Edinburgh to Cornwall she became the first to train as a Colour Me Beautiful consultant in the South West. and she has been working her magic on people, their wardrobes and their confidence ever since!

In their own words

When I first launched my Colour Me Beautiful business, over 40 years ago, I encountered plenty of scepticism and more than a few barriers. But, I had absolute conviction in one thing: when you wear clothes that truly suit you and feel right, it can transform your confidence, lift your self‑esteem, and create a powerful feel‑good factor.

Some of my most rewarding work has been with blind and visually impaired women, helping them experience the feel of colour and the joy that comes from feeling good in what they wear. I’ve also supported many young people who are still finding their place in the world and discovering who they want to be.

Over the years, I’ve worked with mental health organisations, youth projects such as the Prince’s Trust, employment agencies, and initiatives supporting disadvantaged communities. My services have also taken me into schools, colleges, universities, the legal profession, and business institutions, working with both staff and students.

Fashion shows and events have been a wonderful part of my journey, as have the many talks I’ve given to the inspiring women of the WI, including presentations at their regional annual gatherings.

One of the greatest privileges has been hosting several Bosom Pals workshops for women living with, and recovering from, breast cancer. Supporting them to rebuild confidence and discover clothing that enhances, supports, and empowers them has been some of the most meaningful work of my career.
